Plan an interior budget
Understand the decisions behind a project-specific quotation.
Define the scope first
List the spaces and work involved. Design fees, civil work, electrical and plumbing work, finishes, furniture and installation may be separate items; ask for a clear breakdown.
Compare specifications
Compare material grades, quantities, dimensions, fittings and installation methods. A price is only useful when the underlying specification is understood.
Account for the existing condition
Site access, existing services, removal work and repair needs can affect the scope. Discuss how unforeseen work and changes will be documented and approved.
Plan decisions and payments
Agree the decision schedule, payment stages and what each stage covers. Keep written records of approved changes and ask how they affect the total and programme.
Treat early estimates as a guide
Any calculator range is indicative. A confirmed quotation needs a defined scope, appropriate site information, specifications and agreed exclusions.
